As I had promised on my Instagram account, I had to ensure that I had posted about this hairstyle. Hope you’re all doing good. I had no intentions of doing a product review on this particular post until I got the results of my hard work.
So let’s get into what I used to achieve this curls:
Leave-in Conditioner
Oil of choice (Coconut oil)
Water
Rat tail comb
Perm rods
Flexi-rods
The flexi-rods mentioned are not in the pic above just because they were not part of the initial plan until my perm rods were over and I wasn’t done with making my hair. I had no choice but to use them in the long run.
As usual, I started off on finger-detangled hair. I dampened my hair with water then applied my leave-in conditioner and coconut oil. I divided my hair into about six sections in order to make my work easier. I took little chunks of hair from one section at a time and twisted them onto the perm-rods.
By the time I was done, the perm-rods were at the back of my head and the flexi-rods at the crown of my head like so:
I put this rods on my hair at around mid-day, had them through the night until the next day. I’ve had flexi-rods on my hair before and they were very uncomfortable. I went to bed and I couldn’t wait for the morning to come. Perm rods were more comfortable.
I took them down the following morning and this were the results:
I was really cautious while removing the rods from my hair just because they can break the ends of the strands if not removed with care. I was going out for a fuller look and so I had to separate the curls into smaller sections. I also used an Afro-comb to lift my roots in order to have the look that I desired. I didn’t use any hair product at this stage just because I felt like my hair had enough of it at the styling stage the previous day. Here is the result:
I loved the results. It had a good degree of definition and a little bit of freeze which I didn’t mind.
Now onto the product review;
I’ve been using the Organics by Africa’s Best Carrot Oil Cream (the Leave-in conditioner for a while now. I didn’t want to jump into any conclusions until I had used it for a reasonable amount of time. It may not be so obvious but probably by now you’ve noticed that my hair is flaky from the pictures above. I kinda like the fact that this product gave my hair a good amount of hold but I doesn’t just work for me. I’ve used it while doing a protective style and while moisturizing my hair and the next day my hair is as dry as hell. I’ve used the Cholesterol Tea-Tree oil from the same company since last year and my hair fell in love with it. My verdict; The carrot oil cream is a not for my hair. I’m not saying you shouldn’t use it, what works for me may not necessarily work for you. I takes trial and error to know what works like I did.
So that pretty much it. The steps above helped me achieve this cute hair style. Just in case you have any question about it don’t hesitate to ask in the comment section below.
