Hey ya’ll. Never say ‘never’. I always vowed never to put on a wig. Well , look who’s this!
I haven’t been feeling my hair for a while now and I’m getting tired of head wraps. I’ve been trying to have a different kind of look from the usual and I succeed.
Since am a newbie in this sector, I decided to go for the easiest and most affordable kind of wig; crochet wig. These are the items I used to achieve this look.
The hair is a weave that is meant to be inserted using the crochet method to achieve the look. My wig cap has already been cornrowed making it easy to attach the hair onto it. It also has hooks in the inside that help in securing the wig once you put it on. The front side of the wig cap is where the cornrows seem to have a ‘U’ shape like so;
In order to prevent the wig cap from getting ruined, I inserted the hair on the cornrows as opposed to the main wig cap (lace beneath the cornrows). On that note, it will last longer and can also be reused later on.
I also inserted the hair while skipping one cornrow at a time. This helped in the distribution of hair and ensuring that one pack fits on the entire wig cap. There after, I separated the hair to make it look fuller, just the same way you would if you wanted to have a fuller twist or braid out. Before putting it on I wore a cap. I don’t want to call it a wig cap to confuse anyone… but you know the cap that people put on to secure their hair and put it in place before putting on a wig, that’s it. That’s what I had on my hair before the wig.
Honestly, I wasn’t so sure about the hair color. I was going for black hair but it was already sold out. I decided to go for the one with brown highlights at the end and I liked it in the long run.
Here’s the finished look;
You can definitely have two packs of the hair on the wig cap if you want to go for a bigger and fuller look.
I got the hair from Best Lady Cosmetics on Moi avenue at around 570 shillings (Glory by Darling)
The crochet hook is around 80 shillings from Ibrahims Supermarket, Moi Avenue
The wig cap goes for 500 shillings at Dubois street, CBD.
