Hey guys, Hope you’re all doing good. Today’s post will be short and precise. I’d like to share with you on tools I use on my 4C hair.
I’ve Done a post before on staple products I use on my natural hair and I thought it would be a good idea to have a post on tools as well.
The first tool that I use almost on a daily basis would be my wooden brush. It’s bristles are very compact yet very soft, almost like a shoe brush. I use it tame my edges when I’m in a protective style or when I want to put my hair in a high puff. It works well for my edges just because its bristles are soft.
The second one is my wide tooth comb. I’ve had this comb for about 6-7 months and I can honestly count the number of times I’ve used it on my hair. Not that there’s anything wrong with it, I just find myself always having other alternatives (like using fingers) when it comes to detangling my hair. It has worked quite fine the few times I’ve used it.
The Afro Comb is the third. Some people call it an Afro pick but I’ve called it an Afro comb since I was little. I don’t use this either unless when I want to lift the roots of my hair when I’ve done something like a high puff or flexi-rod set and the likes.
A rat-tail comb is the fourth. I use this comb to part my hair. I only use the metal part of it to do this. It especially comes in handy when I want to have protective styles like flat twists or cornrows. It helps me achieve a good and clean straight line.
Hair band and pins. I use the hair band to tie my hair like I’ve done on my mini twists protective style. It just helps in keeping my hair tidy and away when I’m a little bored with touching it. As for the pins, I’m not their biggest fun but I use them when necessary. When my hair band can’t hold all my strands all together at once, the pins do the job.
Last but not least, a string.Okay, honestly…it’s not just a string. It’s an old shoe lace. I want to be real with you guys. I’ve used so many ‘stringy’ items to have my hair in a high puff but they’ve all disappointed me. This is the only thing that works for me. Every time you see me in a high puff just know that the shoe lace is doing its job.
I’m that simple when it comes to hair tools. Nothing fancy as well. I’d love to know what tools you use on your hair that I don’t use yet you find it important.
Lots of Love
Akinyi Fiona.
